Professor Mark T. Harris, J.D., a member of the State Bar of California, is
the Director of Pre-Law Studies at the University of California, Merced, California-Hawai'i N.A.A.C.P. Member of the Board of Directors Chairs, Legal Redress Committee, and
the President of Central Valley Leaders, a nonprofit he and his wife
founded headquartered in Sacramento, California. He is the cohost
of “Family Matters” a public and political affairs talk show broadcast weekly on Sacramento’s KDEE at 97.5 fm. Further, he is Chairman and Founder of Law Enforcement Accountability Directive (L.E.A.D.). Professor Harris is published quarterly in the Opinion section of the Fresno Bee.
Professor Harris is proud to have previously founded two separate vehicles for the development of young leaders. The first program is called "Next Faze Fellows" and is comprised of young people between the ages of 16 and 23 years of age who focus on community building projects throughout
the year. The second program is named the “Willie L. Brown Jr. Youth Leadership Development Program which focuses on working directly with under-represented elementary and middle school students.
Professor Harris spent over a decade on Wall Street as a Managing Director at both Bear Stearns and Company and Paine Webber, where he served as the head of the National Urban Infrastructure Group. Professor Harris has served as an adviser to President William Jefferson Clinton; current California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.; former California Governor Gray Davis; and several big city mayors including Mayor Willie L. Brown of San Francisco, Mayor Elihu M. Harris of Oakland, and Mayor Kevin Johnson of Sacramento. Professor Harris is a recognized expert in global finance, business ethics and urban community development.
Professor Harris is a member of the Executive Board of the California-Hawaii Conference of the NAACP and is a member of the Board of Directors of the California Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Professor Harris is an alumnus of Loyola Marymount University and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Berkeley Law). He has lectured throughout the world including Latin America and Asia. He resides in Sacramento, California, is married to Dr. Marianna Y. Harris, Ed.D., and proud parent of Eric M. Harris, J.D. and Martin T. Harris, J.D. (Class of 2019).
